Change rims from 26 inch to 27 inch

This is my old titanium bike that I changed to 650b. The frame can fit 26x2.5 tires. When switching to 650b I had to go down to a 2.1 width tire and low profile lugs. It has just enough clearance on the RS SID fork to work. The increase in bottom bracket height was minimal with my setup. I recently added a dropper post and I like the bike overall.

I once did a 650b conversion on an early 90s steel stumpjumper with a ridged fork. I found some cantaleaver brakes with longer reach that I could adjust to make the pads reach the rims. The end product wasn't as good. I had to use 1.95 width tires on that one.

I love the 5 different, incompatible 26" wheel sizes🥳

26/559 mtb
26x1 3/8 590mm roadster
26x1 1/4 597mm Mid century sport
26x 1 1/2 utility 584mm
650c 26 continental race 571mm
Yes, when you buy old wrecks from the 1930's there a period where you are hoping it's 26 x 1&3/8, but it always turns out to be 26x 1&1/4 ( the difference in tyres choices is astounding)

Ignore all of that. 26 was standard for MTB until around 2003. Then the 29er came out 29=700c. A while later 27.5 came out. 27.5=650b. That's all anyone really needs to know about MTB wheel sizes.
Thanks mate that's all I need to know I hate these new bikes it was either a racer bmk or mountain bike no body even calls them racers anymore now( it's like sitting on a razor blade )if you understand that all I need to say
