hi y'all. just fitted my cooks cranks to my 95 ish kona fire mountain frame using a 122 mm bottom bracket. the granny ring is 26 tooth and it is very close to the chainstay! the engineer in me is thinking "as long as there is a gap it'll be fine". but sadly i'm not much of an engineer and i'm thinking a bit of flex or a bent ring and my lovely paint is going to be mush. i haven't got my feeler guages out, but there's about 2mm clearance. is this "project tight tollerance" or do i need a wider BB or 24 tooth ring?

I'm using a 122.5 for a cooks crank
Just how close is it? can you get one or more sheets of paper between them?
But it sounds too close anyway, try a slightly longer axle

My Rockhopper has run with barely 2mm clearance for maybe 18 months, & no problems. I can assure you it has been used hard.
