carpal tunnel

Odd feeling, the vibrations from a bolt being unscewed from bone I must say.

I watched a guy having a total knee replacement whilst he was conscious (he'd had an epidural so numb from the waist down), he was chatting away about holidays whilst some hardcore carpentry happened at his knee!!

The trouble with filming surgery is that it's always such a compromise for the surgeons to have to give a clear view for the camera, and most of what you can see is a meaningless gory mess!!

I am not sure if it was CTS, though I suspected it was
If you're still getting pain at the wrist, you could try Youtube or googling for Tinel's Test or Phalen's test - those are the two tests that are used to diagnose Carpal Tunnel, they're quick and pretty simple to do. Surgery is always a last resort, just because of the inherent risks. First choice is always conservative management through exercise or bracing.

after id had nerve conduction tests done the specialist said it was pointless trying splinting as it was beyond that point, and during the release surgery the surgion said the carpal ligament was extremely tight and toughend,,, it sounded like he was cutting through a gear cable lol

I'm waiting to see a consultant about by wrists. June last year I had a fall and damaged my left wrist. I had another fall in May this year and did the other. I just thought the pain was a sprain or just simple bruising. Unfortunately the pain has remained and riding has become very uncomfortable. My doctor has diagnosed a nonunion break in the scaphoid bones on both sides. Depending on which procedure they choose to repair the damage it could be anything between 6 weeks and 9 months in plaster for each wrist. That could well spell the end of my riding days.

dr s my mum broke the same bone in her hand 63 yrs old was fully recovered after 6 weeks in plaster, allthough she dosent punnish her hands like we do on a daly basis but once healed im sure you will be back riding, i know ill not be selling my bikes any time soon

bandages came off yesterday, i have more movement now still a lot of pain tho, but each day seems better, i can actually use my right hand to type now :) as soon as im pain free ill be back to work i think :)
