For the first time in 18 years, I am without a car.

Car-less.

Emasculated.
For the first 26 years of my life I was car-less.

Never felt emasculated at the time, nor on reflection. In some ways life was better then, and I kinda wish I could get rid of mine, now.

I've never felt the need to have a car. In fact I've never even had a single driving lesson either! I can't stand the thought of something that costs me money, even if I don't use it (that's probably the Scot in me that's making itself known  ).

I love my car but it doesn't cost me much to run as I don't actually use it that much. A couple of days a week at the most. It's basically a means of escape from the city. Chuck the golf clubs in the back or the bike on the rack and I can be in a different world in 20 minutes.

the amount of cash you could save is unreal, my tax is due tomorrow for starters.....

tax £130 6 months
insurance £1000
diesel 12 months £1500+
bits and bobss like mot, services £500+

£3,000 a year easy before you add up buying and selling cars in the first place......

And we have 5 of the things!!

If I added up my annual car bills I would buy a short rope and a chair with a wonky leg!!
