Didn't know Elephant are also Admiral - even better, they're £2 cheaper!!

I would also say though that I have had 2 no fault accidents whilst insured by Admiral and they have been excellent on both occasions. Hence why Oman reluctant to leave!

I'm with admiral, was paying £110 a month for my 05 Volvo v50, 06 Audi a4, 06, Santa fe 4x4..... Just swapped details each time.

I then went from a 06 punto on the same monthly cost to above cars to a 96 golf I paid £470 for and the monthly costs are still the same!!!!

Almost 3 times the cars value :evil:

Going to check around this year.

On the plus side I got a 50cc scooter for the girlfriend insured for both of us....£67 the year!

Tried the comparison site and the cheapest is my current insurer ??? :shock: £365

gave them the quote number and lo and behold they managed to up it with add ons, personal accident and legal protection cover up to £562.99

think I will stick to me bike

I's completely insane. Swapped for £700 worth of Saab 9000 2.3 Turbo to £10000 worth of Mercedes C220 CDi Estate...payment up £50.

I have 10 years no claims - I would have thought the Benz was a far worse risk just in terms of the repair cost - the Saab was worth scrap. :?

The value of your car is only part of the factor they take into account. The cars everyone else are driving haven't changed and they still have to pay for the Ferrari you crash into, regardless of what you crash into it in!

Also, you are less likely to drive like a loon if you can afford a 10k Merc, than any old rust bucket...at least statistically!

Also price and availability of spares is a big factor, something rarer will cost more to insure.

I'm 45. You have hit the nail on the head. Mind, with a diesel Merc I might be moonlighting as a minicab. I have a nice CD of Polish folk songs to set the scene perfectly...
