Cannondale M700 with a twist..

Picked up this frame and fork off eBay a few weeks ago, it came with a few other bits too. There wasn’t a lot of detail in the listing or pics but it looked good enough to me and I won it at a decent price.
The owner had starting stripping it for a repaint years ago and never got round to it, hence the state it was in.. I’ve stripped it right down and got the frame powder coated in bright red. I wasn’t feeling the blue colour and I just sold a beast of the east in red which was too big for me but I loved the look of it - I might even make this one an M800 copy with some decals from Gil in the future..
It’s going to be XT737 to match the crankset and derailleur which I have, the outer chainring is middleburn and the middle one is ano purple which matches the hope set clamp.
The wheels are hope Ti glide which were red but I’ve de-anodised them and polished them. They are laced to Mavic ceramic rims in black. Repro Panaracer Smokes for the retro look. I’ve also put on a few Club Roost bits which I had - bars/stem/grips, I have pedals too. The forks are Marzocchi Z2 atom race in red/chrome also a Selle Italia Flite in red.
Just waiting on a front derailleur to finish this, can’t wait to ride it - nice and light these are. :)

Re:

Cheers, I stripped the wheels right down and soaked the hubs in oven pride for about ten minutes. The anodising melts right off and then you can polish them with autosol - they come up really well.
The paint on the Judy’s is a bit too scuffed and scratched so I’ll repaint them once the weathers a bit warmer, I already ordered some new decals from Gil_m and they’re here. Those will no doubt end up on something else in the future..

Re:

Just waiting for some brake levers and a front mech to arrive for this bike. Thought I’d repaint the judys and see how they come up.. Lacquer is still wet in the pic but they’re looking good, might try these on the bike once they’re dry.
Thanks as ever to Gil for the fork decals - another bang up job..

Re:

Last few bits turned up today so managed to get the bike together. Full xt737 group and Hope hubs with Mavic ceramic rims, a few club roost goodies which I’d been hanging on to..
Turned out good, looks and rides really well with the 3x8 drivetrain. Looking forward to putting a few miles on it now the weather is getting warmer.

Re:

Changed it up a little bit, I’ve got a Santa Cruz Heckler frame which I want to build up and need the wheels for that. I bought an XT 737 rear wheel which had a 217 rim and then bought a XT 738 front hub and laced it to a 517 rim I already had. I think the thinner silver wheels suit this bike better, and they’re lighter to boot.
I’m tempted to try the yellow Judy’s on this too - think the colour will tie in with the frame decals. Watch this space..

Get the yellow judys on and a yellow 140 stem....oh yellow/gold jag wire cables also ? But even so, what you’ve created .. I’d be proud to own

that looks fooking lovely!! Great build and great colour. I still cant see why people want a modern bike over a classic, in this price range.
