Can you change a 1" threaded headset to ahead style

Sure I've seen some converters that replace the top threaded section of a normal (threaded) headset? Does it matter what make it is e.g. does a king headset need a king top part?
Yeah, you generally need to match manufacturer to get a proper fit. King will sell you parts to convert their headsets in both directions. Recent Campag Record and Chorus stuff is interchangeable between threaded and threadless. The M-Part adapter works with recent Shimano 1" headsets with the proprietary cartridge bearing.

If it's because you are strugling to find a 1" Aheadset Chain Reaction do FSA ones in 1" for £20, modern bit but needs must  , got one for my Clockwork, currently working on cleaning the FSA logos off :D
