Can steerer tube be made longer?

I have a Rock Shox SID with a steerer tube too short.
If I put it on my bike it would poke out of the head tube by only 15mm.
So can't even clamp a readily available steerer extender there.
Any fix for this or I need to find another fork?

You can get extenders, they are essentially a quill stem without the bar mount but I'm not sure how good they are, maybe some folk can feed back, I've never used one.

You can in theory have the steerer pressed out and a replacement pushed in. I've had that done before but you'll need to find someone who can do this.

You may be better off selling your forks and finding a set with a long enough steerer. What length is your current one and what do you need?

you could swap out the steerer. they are pressed in so you'd need to find somewhere to do it for you, but it's an option over welding.
normally I'd say weld away, but at 15mm about the top bearing you are right in the danger zone so to speak. you could have it cut and machined below the top bearing then a new piece welded on, reamed and turn the weld off, but it's a lot of work and will most likely cost you the price of a new steerer or even a new fork.
