Can steerer tube be made longer?

SIDS will have an alloy steerer
In steel yeah, alloy steerers will (probably) have much more wall thickness and smaller id.
Alloy steerers are never threaded - for strength reasons - so never take a quill.

Ahead gave us the opportunity to use aluminium as the steerer material.

There are discussions on this thread about extending steel and aluminium steerers, threaded and unthreaded/ahead.

I don't think anyone had brought up carbon composite, but it's not very retro😉
And I haven't seen any mention of Headclip, but that's Too Retro🤣

The different materials and styles demand different approaches.

carbon is easy, you just melt it and stretch it a bit. :)
