You push your bike up hills and retire early through dodgy knees.

Cheers but I already have a CX bike

The project has begun, and its gonna be a goodie! will post a thread to follow the build shortly

I've never done single speed, but I may at some point give it a go.

But i'll also give full sus bike ago at the same time to see what all the fuss is not about.

So is a Single Speed Full Suspension bike doable and if so what style rear suspension would be best ?

Single speed full suss is do-able and has been done but the whole point of a single speed (for me) is mechanical simplicity, low maintainance, and light weight, full suss is none of these things so while i get and like single speeds i dont get single speed full sussers.

I can recommend both though, have a blast on a good full susser, and a single speed just not a single speed full susser

This is where a URT rear sus comes into it's own . no tensioner needed , unlike any other suspension.

One of these frames is what you need if you really want a FSSS - a better option than those horrible URT things... 8)

For asking the question Scratt, I salute you. People know my theories on this but, each to their own and all that.

Ask yourself, have Landrover ever produced a single speed model?

No, but they do a neat trick of dripping an oil line so you can find your way home when you get lost

Thats a good point, why use a bike at all?

Yes they did. In the late 50's Special Engineering built a few prototypes with a Gas Turbine engine driving directly to the transfer box. It was rubbish and the prototypes were scrapped. Very few pictures exist but one of the engines ended up in a car entered for Graham hill at Le Mans.

Si, trainspotting pedant of the day.
