Hi i'm quite new in this. But i have a 21" KHS Montana Pro. It's too big for me but who cares, i want to make it as a commuter bike.

Now my question is, can i fit a roadbike wheelset 700c to this frame?
Here's my bike:

I saw a few posts that has a mountain bike frame with a road wheels.

Let me know. Thanks guys.

If you have discs it's very easy. If you run canti / V-brakes there is an adaptor from Mavic which fits over the canti posts to get the brakes into the right position. CRC stock them.

Now i know there is such existence for a brake adapter :P
I will check my LBS.
Thanks guys...

But what about tyre clearance? The diameter of a roadbike wheelset will touch the fork or the chain stay?

If i'm using a rock shox fork can i be able to fit in? Sorry im just asking because i don't have a roadbike wheelset to try at home.

I have 700c forks on mine so it's not an issue - however many of the suspension corrected rigid forks will have plenty of clearance I would have thought. Don't know about suspension forks though.

get some 650c road wheels

I've thought about this in the past. Is the rim size the same as an MTB 26" or at least within V-Brake adjustment boundaries?

Are cross tyres available in 650c?

Depends on the tyre size - 18s are a lot smaller than 25s :-) I've had 700Cs in my 1998 Heckler in the past, plenty of room at the front (RS Psylo at the time), pretty tight on the (aftermarket bigger-clearance) seatstay brace at the back, but that was with relatively large (by road standards) tyres. I fear that the only way to be sure is to try it with borrowed wheels, or at least measure the diameter of some wheels and tyres in a shop.

700x23c road wheels are almost exactly the same diameter as a 2.1" mtb tyre. So there will be plenty, unless you try something daft like running 29er tyres.
