Can i fit a roadbike wheelset to a mountainbike frame?

I have 700c x 35 on mine with 8mm clearance. Might even stretch to 40, but haven't tried that yet.

you may want to read this bit about spacing aswell, because road wheels and mtb wheels have different dimensions from outside of locknuts. Usually its just 5mm difference. If its a steel frame you can spring it in.

good point - that's what I had to do, but because it's steel it doesn't seem to be a problem.

get some 650c road wheels

I've thought about this in the past. Is the rim size the same as an MTB 26" or at least within V-Brake adjustment boundaries?

Are cross tyres available in 650c?

similar sizes i think - but pad adjustment may make it easier!

not sure about the cross tyres though
