What do you mean one computer?

You should be able to use parts from one to upgrade the other.

Connect them up so they are one.

Still pretty vague as to what you mean and to what end.

So no is the simple answer. You can connect them as other computers and one will show as an extra drive. You can also connect them and run programs that share the workload of some tasks/programs.

I just had a quick look as i know they like to change things up a bit and not really up on the modern mac architecture. The program i was thinking of is no longer maintained but there seems to be other programs depending on what you want to do.

I like that. Will look into it more

If you are just wanting to use the other drive for storage then you could remove it and either use as is or mount in an external case which will save you some room and also make the drive more portable.

Normally i would have said just buy a hard drive as they are cheap nowadays, but if you have one already you may as well use that.

Also depending on which model you have, and available slots, you could maybe pop the ram from the donor box into the other and up the performance.

You are limited with what you can do with them. For example, you can't put both hard drives in one of them. There isn't enough space. Similarly, I think the RAM is soldered onto the motherboard.

You could use one of the hard drives as an external one - either by taking it out and putting it into a separate case or via target disk mode:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Target_Disk_Mode

Finally, some applications - rare ones like some 3D applications - allow you to use the processing power of computers in a network collectively.
