Can anyone recommend a good AVI - DVD converter?

I've been using AVS video converter but is really slow (and costs $$$ ) if you don't want ads in the middle of the screen..............

Agreed.. I thought it was freeware though. . . :?

**edit to add** the 'normal version is free, pro costs money (not had cause to 'go pro' so far)

Try Cnet's download.com and you can filter the results to give you the free ones and see the decent reviews.

ConvertXtoDVD 3 works great. No idea whether it's free or not, though.

IIRC the shareware version watermarks the converted video twice.

Without doubt The Film Machine.

I've used many, and this is the best I've used. Freeware, and uses the excellent freeware encoders HC and aften.
