I.S. rely on fear to rule. They have no idea how bad ass we really are, and are going to find out.
This is what i worry about :?
The propaganda that turned a democracy into the operators of mechanized murder is in no way as barbaric as the anti Muslim sentiment put out by the IS.
They are not doing themselves any favours :?
This should really be taken care of by the middle eastern coalition if there really is such a thing and not left to the west yet again.

It's easy to drop a bomb on some one but gets really hard when your trying to kill what a person good or bad believes in.

Evening HF,

I'm not sure they can defeat an extremist faction when a western coalition don't know precisely where they are. Would obviously be good to do though.
However, there will for ever more be sympathisers, who will brainwash others into committing acts of terrorism, without even needing to be in direct contact, due to t'internet rhetoric.
Whatever we do in the west, we will not change the ways of the people living out there, they simply have a way of life that no westerner has managed to change, however much we try.

Living out there......they are living over here!! They are around us every day - there is simply no way we will ever beat these people, we are far too concerned with "first world problems" like who will win the bake off! But we all know this anyway so its a pointless debate.

Re:

IS doesn't have an Air Force, so anywhere in open country they are gonna be dead meat. The local Arab forces should be able to rout them with Airpower on their side, and it looks like over 20 countries are sending aid and forces to the fight. Maybe when they finish with IS they can continue and take out Assad, too...

I truly hope so, we have let these despots have their way too long and that has come back to bite us in the form of the ultra extremists.

There will be retribution for all these be-headings, the difference is the Navy Seals and SAS will do it by night and with no fanfare, no glory of martyrdom for the evil murdering scum.

More, please. The tents should be fair game, but mind the donkeys.

My hope is we can tap into local intelligence and use the tribal rivalries to undermine the extremists. it certainly won't be pretty, but we should never have washed our hands of the problem initially. We should have gone into Syria as soon as the regime turned on its people.

It's more then likely that the locals hate us more then each other.

From what I understand the same people we supported in Syria are those now chopping people's heads off. If we'd gone in to Syria we'd have been helping this mob.

Have you seen the number of people the Saudis have beheaded in the time IS have been taking hostages? What should we do about that?

How about Palestine? What should be done about the slaughter of the locals by Israel?
