Campagnolo Chorus / C record Friction Shifters

Some time ago bought a set of Chorus friction shifters and when installing them I've run into a problem - the shifters do not mount tightly on the downtube bosses. I think i have the wrong internals, there certainly a few pieces missing compared to other images I've seen on the web. Here's what I have :

Here's an image from online. I don't have parts f, g or h. Part E is engraved campagnolo on mine, I think I may even have parts from older super /nouvo record shifters.

Anyone got any experience of these?

thanks

C-Record, yes. I bought some from Campyoldy (for about £40) and used the guide that you have shown, so unfortunately it looks like you have some pieces missing.

Your E could well be H??

Good luck

Re:

Thanks.Have done some more digging and turns out there were two assembly versions shown on the campagnolo tech sheet. not sure why but mine are complete. It was actually some old loctite on the threads stopping the bolt going fully into the braze on .

Unfortunately I tried to clean out the braze on internal thread by screwing a bottle cage bolt in and it seized and the head snapped off! I'm going to take the frame to Argos cycles next week to see if they can remove it or drill it out. I really hope its not toast :(

They will likely use these....... or something similar. That's what we would have used back in the day. It's got a reverse thread so when you screw it in the hole (drilled in the centre of the remaining bolt) anticlockwise it locks in and then you continue screwing anticlockwise and the bolt unscrews. If that makes sense. Only cost a couple of quid so might be worth a go?

Re:

Hmmm read a few reviews on screwfix where the tool snapped off in the bolt! Including a bike! May get a quote from argos first

I think most peoples problems with easy outs is knowing when or when not to use them. In my experience if the bolt is broken by over tightening or being sheared off, then an easy out will work to remove it. It is important to drill the hole straight down the center and not at an angle. If it is already seized in the hole then forget it and use some other method like a left hand drill.
