campag brakes id and age please anyone?

hi all, i have been asked to value/sell some brakes from a work colleague, im not asking for values here (xyz will be getting that one) just a model and year and maybe a rarity value. he said he bought them new but cant remember if it was 70's or 80's and he has no interest in cycling whatsoever. he also states they have never been fitted to a bike and have only spent the last 30 odd years sat in an ice cream tub in his shed. the marks you see in the pics are mainly dirt and there is slight pitting on top of the barrel adjusters and main bolt other than that the are as new as well new ones i guess.

Look like original campag super record, drilled levers, flat QR lever (they were later rounded for safety)....I'd place them at about 1978.

They are worth about as much as someone is willing to pay but I wouldn't let them go for less than say £90-100 ?

I'd agree, Super Record and the date, which could raise a tidy sum, especially if the brade lever hoods are still flexible and have not split.
I've seen the calipers go for a good price and also the levers by themselves raise a smile, so worth some research at the merits of splitting.

I agree with ID and age --- the flat QR levers certainly make them 70s. As for rarity value, they're not particularly rare as such, but in this condition they are now pretty rare. If the hoods are still supple, that's a real plus point, as they do wear out. Also, the chromed bolts (centre bolt and brake block nuts) are often tarnished and these look perfect.

I've seen similar go on ebay for more than £100 and I think there is quite a market for them. Get them cleaned up and appealingly photographed, and you should have lots of interest. The cracked rubber rings on the adjusters come up fairly regularly on ebay, or I think Nigel at Campyoldy has them too.

Any other bits lying around in ice cream tubs???

These are what I define to be second variant Campagnolo Super Record bake levers which were produced from about 1976 to 1978 combined with corresponding brake calipers.

PS: the difference in value of a 1969 Campagnolo brakeset and a 1973 brakeset is night and day. The early "no-name" ones go for big bucks but the later ones much less. The same with the difference between the first and second variant of Super Record brake levers.
