Those photos look more like a Prestige frame than a Clockwork or C16R.

It's definitely not a C16R, they all have the fatter seat tube.

The 1992 Clockwork has the same cable routing, but the wishbone attaches below the top tube junction.

The 1992 Prestige frame looks the most like the one in those photos. The cable routing is the same and the wishbone intersects the thin seat tube in the right place.

Just my thoughts to add to the debate.

My first impression was prestige, probably as it's black.

all the decals look modern though, even the headtube one.

Prestige ! eh! well here is a couple more photos to throw into the debate .. Colour wise , it was powder coated prior to me buying it, and the stickers I have put on recently as the others were knacked (dont worry the old style are going back on when I find out what it is :) ) .. anymore thoughts then ?

that looks the same as my clockwork which turned out to be a 93, the original paint was orange white with 21speed lx or purple orange fade with dx, was gonna do the original purple orange fade on mine but then i saw what it actually looked like and decided against it! :) hope that helps

I still suspect that it's a 92 or 93 Clockwork and not a Prestige, because it has the two rack eyes on the dropout as the little bike I pictured above has. I personally can't see rack eyes there on the Prestige in the brochure, and nor on any of the photos I have (see example below)

I can't quite tell from your pics whether it has a flat top to the seat tube, or is that a shim? The one below looks a bit like a shim, so maybe all Oranges had slanting tops to their seat tubes when they used those lug things.

Well it does have eyelets and it also has a slanting top part of the seat tube, Prestige or Clockwork then folks ? or is it a C16 ?

Not a C16 as the tube size you gave says so....

Weigh the frame when you get it ;).

Shim's looking a bit nakered.

But since it's not the original paint as you say (it would be a matt finish for black) or the original decals... then it could just be the clockwork.

So will frame weight determine if its a clockwork or prestige then ? is this the only way left ? yea and the shim is knack'd but will be replaced with either a new one or right size fit seatpin.. thanks for all your help fellas BTW... :)

I have nearly a full XT Mint 735 groupset for this now, along with some tasty forks.. thanks andy... colour wise its going to be something very different,,, :)

I think the problem is the bikes (clockwork & prestige) where pretty much the same other then frame material.
Prestige will have a higher ding/ping to it and clockwork a dull one. (as it's much thicker.

Not sure if frame number would tell.

Best bet is to look through here and take you pick decide and who really cares after that

I did have a clockwork as well with stright PACE forks on for a short time, I still have the Suntour XC Comp MD / handlebars from it as well on my RM Fusion (frame swap with my bro, bitd.... as he needed the bigger size andI couldn't throw a good bike away.)
