Buying from Germany

I'm surprised the transfer is that much. There are threads on here from before about bank transfers to Germany - try a search. I think when I looked into it it was about £7 at either end.

It shouldn't cost too much to transfer money.

I work at a property management company, and when some of our european tenants want to transfer rent money to us from their foreign banks it costs then IRO £5 to £7.

I'm looking at some companies online who do it for only a few euros. That might be the best option.

post some details up then Woodie please?

Ikobo seem OK and cheap

I tried looking at this site, but couldn't get a price for the transfer. It's probably cheap

These people charge £15 which is a bit steep

There are a few, but I'm not able to access too many of them from work. For once it's a time when the ads at the side of a Google search are actually useful LOL

I'll be trying Ikobo when I get in. I got so far and looked like the charge was about £7, but I might have done something not quite right

wire bank transfer is free in the entire EURO zone, not only within Germany. imho the very best way of transfering money and a matter of seconds if you have an online bank account. just join EUROland and you have one problem less ;)

cheers, carsten

It gets better.
The guy I'm buying from has suggested sending the cash through the post!
I'm getting a bad feeling about this, despite him having good feedback reviously, which appears to all be in Germany.
Is there any reason why a vendor would have an issue about using Paypal?

Are there any forum users in Germany who would be willing to act as go-between and transfer the cash from me via Paypal?

I just sent some euros to Germany last week, recorded delivery..I checked & in 2-3 days seller had the money..
Now got my item... :D Cost you around 5-6 pounds recorded..I would chance it

Has anyone been given 'weird' bank account details when doing this?

This is the format I have been sent from a recent eBay purchase:

AA11 1234 5678 1234 5678 12 (Obviously this isn't the real account number)....which bit is the sort code??????????

I need to pay for this ASAP.... :?

ok....so i've found out the hard way

It was part of an IBAN/Swiftcode setup....

That will teach me to snatch up parts quickly from eBay.de in the middle of the night

£28 for nice minty Syncros Cattlehead
€15 for shipping
£20 for bank transfer...........
Lesson learnt the hard way.....priceless
