I don't understand how it can be as short as 385 if it's a 29er fork? Surely you need c420?

If it's 385mm "to the bottom of the fork crown" it's probably 410mm to 420mm to the bearing seat.

Surely you need c420?

A 29" tyre has a 311mm bead seat radius. Add tyre depth and clearance to taste.
