Just rung the shop and they've quoted 30 to ream the seat tube and re-tap the bottom bracket threads plus an extra 10 to re-tap rear mech hanger..... Seems pricey to me, what say you??
Depends on the state they're in. If the threads are currently in good condition and just need chasing, then it looks on the high side. If the threads are shot and really need re-cutting, it looks quite reasonable. If they haven't seen the frame, it might just be a highish estimate to cover them in the event things are worse than described.
Got another reputable local shop or framebuilder who could give you a second opinion?
A lot of shops have a minimum workshop charge, some charge by the time a job takes. Our minimum charge is £10 regardless of the work needed
Some shops overcharge for jobs they don't want to do or for customers who didn't buy their bike from that shop
Doesn't seem that expensive TBH £40 for the 3 jobs which would probably take up to 30 mins to do properly (depending on how many times the phone rings or how busy the shop is)
The threads just needs some primer taken off them, I'm gonna use an old set of BB cups and do it myself, same with rear mech hanger, will lightly sand the burrs on the seat tube.....
