Broadband supplier that's good

I use virgin ADSL.

Short contract period = if they go bad then you can leave (i've been with them for 4 years).

Unlimited downloads out of peak hours (5pm till midnight), theres a limit within peak hours, if you go over they slow you down for a week.

Tried very hard to find a provider with truely unlimited downloads, this was the best value.

Oh and its RAPID and has never dropped a connection, and never had a problem. But then I coudl probably throw a stone from my house and hit the exchange.

I use Sky as part of a bundle. Because of where we are, our connection speed is 0.9 meg at best and theres no fibre optic around here.

Freeview is shite on a big screen so decided to dump BT for the landline(who were bumping our phone bill up monthly), Tiscali were good but are now Talk Talk (awful - another story in its self) so went the SKY bundle route

Two years in, I cant fault them

Also as someone who frequently deals with ADSL problems for customers and has suffered the "technical" "support" offered by all the main suspects...

I've been very happy with Freedom 2 Surf over the years; sadly they have been bought out several times and are now part of Opal.

Having said that, every time I've phoned them I've got through to a British person who could understand what I was saying, knew at least roughly what they were talking about on technical matters and weren't in any way obstructive when I've asked to speak to second level support (who have been uniformly excellent).

They're not the cheapest, but their prices are not unreasonable and their service has been excellent up till now.

If you value your sanity... DO NOT go with Orange or AOL. The thought of dealing with their appalling call centres apparently staffed _almost_ exclusively by completely clueless, unhelpful drones is enough to bring me out in a cold sweat and give me flashbacks and nightmares...
