Brassey sprint

Barwed

Retro Newbie
Just wondering if anyone has ever seen one of these or knows anything about them. It says it was made in Liverpool and was my bike when I was a kid and that's all I know. IMG20220310102114.jpg

The front wheel looks like it pre-dates the bike. It looks like a 50s hub with the round holes.

Until recently I worked with Alexis Brassey at a law firm in London. His father owned the shop which I believe was on Walton Road in the 1970s and 1980s. I understand that apart from selling mass produced bikes he also bought in frames to label with his own decals. Given the lugwork I’d say this frame is mid 1970s.

Thank you for the information. I would have been around 10 when I got the bike so that ties in on the timescale. I've no idea of value or where I could sell it. I've attached a couple more photos.

It's a pretty standard example of a 70s child's bike, albeit with a more unusual name on it than the usual Raleighs/BSAs of the period – so it's not really worth anything much, to be perfectly honest. Maybe £50 to the right person. Being a child's vintage bike, it's a lot more niche than if it were an adult's, in terms of saleability.

You could try selling on here, or eBay, of course. If you sell on Retrobike (https://www.retrobike.co.uk/forums/road-for-sale-complete-bikes.47/) you need to state the price up front.

Interesting to see, anyway.
