No right or wrong..... What are you used to ride!? Think in Europe the left hand brake is front.... That's what I'm used to....
Same here. Front (left) shifter front brake, rear shifting, rear braking. Simple as that.
So why complicate things more?

it's not complicated - I hired a bike in the USA recently - brakes were the otherway round, took all of 30 minutes to get used to the switch (was a road bike though so less of an issue).

They were right way from my point of view :) I meant using brakes along with front/rear shifters makes more sense to me and is simpler. Is the way how I used to. But saying "wrong way round" wind me up litte so I try prove you use it inappropriately  But here's no right or wrong obviously.

I've got road bike with right front brake I can't bother to change over and I'm completly fine with it, I wouldn't go off road with that setup though.

Just out of curiosity, I'm wondering how many people run their brake levers the 'wrong' way round??

By which I mean, the left-hand lever pulls the front brake, and the right-hand lever pulls the rear??

It's only the wrong way in UK, like you drive on the "wrong" side on the road

But for the brake, I know some motrcycle riders who keep the front brake on the right lever, a reflex for them…

On the right except for on fixeds - where traditionally if running only a front brake (daft idea) the lever is on the left so that might brake while signalling a right turn (more necessary than for a left turn).

I have bikes of both persuasions.

I don't seem to struggle with it, just always seem to remember the RC300 is Right-back.

Right - front, left - rear for me. I've never been tempted to change.

I once borrowed a left hand drive car and spent two hours attempting to change gears with the door handle, so I don't suppose I would adapt quickly. :D

Right hand side for front brake for me, anything else would be like cheese for breakfast or throwing donkies off church steeples in the name of religion, not everything they do abroad is right; sometimes it's left!
