Bovine and equine trail obstacles

A few years ago now but a group of us doing the South Downs Way got chased across a field by a herd of cows. We were riding along at a steady pace across a field and the cows started to follow us. Next thing it's a full on stampede! I had to ditch my bike at a gate and vault over to escape, others dived through hedges. No one was hurt but cows can run very fast when they want to. As someone said earlier there is a lot of beef behind a cow.
