bottom bracket removal...help please...what way to undo it..

im having trouble removing driveside bottom bracket retaining
ring ive read to undo it you turn clockwise....but this is solid so to check im turning the right way is it clockwise with bike upside down resting on saddle and handlebars or is it clockwise when bike is standing with wheels on ground in riiding position.
as i need to know im trying to undo it the right way
also ive got the other side off but still cant get bottom bracket out
do i need to take both sides off to remove bottom bracket

Clockwise, and it don't matter which way up the bike is.

i always remember it like this

with the bike stood on its wheels, and the spanner at the top, push towards the front of the bike...

im going to have to get a long hollow bar pipe on the socket
bar to give me more leverage
i take it the bottom bracket is only removable from the driveside
is that correct

No BB is undone both sides, one side anti clock wise and the other is undone clockwise! . . . . . if i can rightly remember driveside is Clockwise and opposite is Anti Clockwise ! Bike Standing up on its wheels or just visit the following link for the noddy guide!

thanks for help guys
i sprayed and left it soaking in wd 40 still had to use
a 2ft leverage bar to undo the bottom brkt
was solid rust
new one coming next week
