Bottom Bracket Gear Cable Guides

Hello,

I have just bought a really nice Ribble frame from another forum member (Benandemu) and am looking to start building it up.

The bottom bracket seems to have a couple of very small brazed on hoops as gear cable guides and that simply running the cable through these has scored into the bottom bracket shell.

Is a proper guide available for this that plugs into these hoops or shall I get busy bending up some 3mm copper pipe?

I am only really familiar with the screw on metal / plastic plate type guides.

My newly-bought Ribble 653 is exactly the same and I have encountered road frames with similar arrangements in the past. The guides are a substitute for the plastic ones and you just thread the cables through in the same way. If you're worried about your paintwork, Maplin, RS or some other electronics retailer probably does thin Teflon sleeving to go over the metal gear wires, and/or a few dabs of lithium grease should fit the bill.
