Have you tried putting a set of mole grips on what is left of the stud and winding it out so you can replace the stud with a new one? I find it highly unlikely that this will be machined out of one piece of aluminium.

Hmm, interesting. No, I haven't tried. I agree that a single piece would be overly engineered, but had it in my head that it was a single assy from going by the exploded diagram (http://www.retrobike.co.uk/gallery2/v/M ... t.pdf.html). This breaks the fork down to o-ring level, but still shows the cartridge as one piece :?

Worth a try though and thanks for the suggestion...I'll let you know how I get on (once I get my hands on some mole grips!).

EDIT: just had a look, and the stud is def an integrated part of the lower part of the hyd cartridge. So not poss to remove stud only
