It's foldable by a quick release at the top of the seat tubes and and having a pivot point close to the BB.
The pic here shows the full suspension of same generation, but the fold mechanism is same at the hard tail.


Obviously key use case, to get it into the boot space of an BMW.

A fairly common, fairly basic machine, fetches over 1k easy in reasonable nick.
