well tried the recovery process - machine just cycles through and fails as soon as it gets the load screen - same with safe mode. 'fixing' it with a windows disk did nowt...

i have a copy of puppy to try.
putting the hdd in another machine doesnt do much - just says 'access denied'
'start windows in last known good settings' didnt work either

when you put the hd in tother machine did you change the jumper settings at the back ..

Puppy can see all my files so once I work out how Puppy works as an OS, I can back up stuff to my new spare comp....
