Blew my rim up tonight. :/

If you ride in the rain and use V brakes check your rims, this rim had around 6 months use. The dog was terrified by the bang. To be fair so was I.

:shock: 6 months?!!? :shock: how many miles do you do each week!

Looking at the tyre I guess it had fairly high pressure in it when the rim split, hence the gunshot sound.

Was it simply a case of rim wear? (In which case, what brand of rim was it?),
Or was there some fault with the rim?

Mavic's 319 rim. It was being used with a MTB tyre for all of it's life till I switched it to the commuter bike as it had worn a bit. As I pumped it up with the slick tyre, at 65psi it gave up.
