Found this tonight :)

knocked it up in about 1973 in a school metalwork class while I should have been making a toasting-fork or ash tray :)

Just for fun........

Cromoman is indeed right :)

It's a home made wheel carrier (better than using a spanner) for attaching wheels to the front axle........... and taking your sprint / tubs to the race.

Most of our bikes also doubled as school / town / shops / muddy lanes / disused railway tracks / scrambling etc so had normal HP's.

I've got 2 pairs of Cliff Peters and one pair of Cyclo. When I was a lad it was 'de rigeur' to ride out to events at silly o'clock of a Sunday morning with your 'best sprints' hanging on your front wheel. And then go off on a clubrun afterwards.

The ones in the photo travelled miles with me.

I knew what they were....

Lets see some fitted to a bike carrying some wheels then people! Never seen any in use and they're no good sitting in a draw....

If desperate you can use a spanner (double ended), one side clamped to the bike with the wheel nut and the other holding the wheel on......... LOL

Yep, I used cone spanners a couple of times but they always slipped down as the quick release couldn't grip them hard enough. I once took a chunk out of a brand new wheel carrying it like that .

Mark.
