Bit of fun....identify this 1970's accessory

You needed to strap the wheel rims to your handlebars at the top or you could end up with a 4 wheel bike if the wheel carriers came loose.

3 at the front, 1 at the back - not the easiest thing to steer :shock:

Mine (Cliff Peters) still get used from time to time, usually when I'm buying new wheels.

What are these ??

I've got 2 pairs of Cliff Peters and one pair of Cyclo. When I was a lad it was 'de rigeur' to ride out to events at silly o'clock of a Sunday morning with your 'best sprints' hanging on your front wheel. And then go off on a clubrun afterwards.

The ones in the photo travelled miles with me.

get up at 3 am, breakfast , meet the lads, ride across manchester either to cheshire or the East lancs road for a 6am start time trial... then off on a club run, dinner at Mrs Bates cafe home for tea..
Those were the days !!!!!!

Get up at 3.am, breakfast, meet the lads, ride to the other side of Chester for a 6 am start time trial...then off to the Eureka cafe for a pot of tea and beans on toast then off home at a sensible time. Sod the club run as well!!

Now THOSE were the days :roll:

Thankfully Hull Thursday Road Club had sensible start times for their 10's and 25's in the 1970's

I saw some in use a few weeks ago. Somone leaving a cycle jumble had boutght a couple of wheels and used those to hang his new wheels on his bike. He also had stuff (including some mud guards) sticking every which way out of his panniers.
