Biking After Heart Valve Replacement.

It's been a couple years since I've updated this. That's because there hasn't been much to update, until now. My latest imaging has shown that it's time to start making plans for an operation. I was offered a mechanical valve but that would require anticoagulant therapy for the rest of my life. I'm looking at having another procedure called a Ross Procedure. They would replace my aortic valve with my pulmonary valve and the give me a donor pulmonary valve. Then I wouldn't have anything mechanical and wouldn't need anticoagulants. I could get back to mountain biking and live a fairly normal life. I'm in the beginning stages of getting opinions from surgeons. I'll know more in the next month or so.

Hope that it's relatively uncomplicated from here on in for you. I know we don't know each other, but I wish you the very best of luck.

I appreciate the kind thoughts and words. Life can be stressful sometimes. For some reason it's easier to talk about this to strangers on the internet than people in my life. Perhaps I just relate to other middle aged men who love to mountain bike. This place and the trail near my house is far better for me than any therapist could be.

Good luck to you sir, any increase in your quality of life will be most welcome I bet getting out there will do wonders for the heart too.
