Names, address and phone numbers of any witnesses. At the present time it is your word against his. Photos of any damage to you and your bike and the car if possible. Also take pictures of where the accident happened. If there is any loophole an insurrance company will find it.
Thanks guy's! I've got all his details and passed them onto his insurance company. I got a witness who saw the accident and gave them his details too. I've taken pics of my bike and recorded damage done to it.
Insurance company said it would now go through their claims department. Not sure who decides on value of damage done to the bike? Me/Bike shop/Insurance assessor?
If it was a big crash, write off the frame and forks as any warranty they had will now be void. If it has sentimental value or is retro get it checked by a frame builder (bill them for that cost too.)
When i got knocked off, i took my bike to local bike shop and had a quote for a repair and replacement damaged kit, shorts , glasses , helmet etc. sent all the docs of to solictor, I was given his name by 'injury lawyers for you'. He did a fine job, never went to court and got over 10k in compo

Wish I'd called the police to the accident to back up my claims to the insurance company. Lucky I've got a witness who saw the accident to back up my view.
I was hit by a car last year. Don't go through his insurance company. Get your own solicitor, their insurance will fob you off to minimise the amount they pay out. I was being harassed by them to settle early the afternoon I got out of hospital.
Are you a member of the CTC? You get free bike specific legal cover if you are. Get in touch with your home insurance folks if you have it, you may well find you have legal cover there.
You're still posting so things can't be too bad. Take care of yourself.
