It is looking like i need to get a storage unit as a two bed flat is not big enough for my bikes and toolboxes so it looks like I will get a unit from Big Yellow and was wondering if anyone else has done this and has any suggestions about who to see about insuring my stuff once it is in storage?

Re:

I have no idea about the pricing but I do know a little about storage.

Ideally I would rather rent a garage/workshop than mere storage.

Having power and possible toilet facilities would make a huge difference. Use something like Big Yellow only for a short time in extremis.

If you have reached the limit of your current space I would look seriously at getting rid of some of the gear before you start paying out to store it.

My mum is selling up some of her 'units' so we are currently moving gear out of one, I cannot believe the junk I have amassed thanks to having the space for it!

Unfortunately I have three large toolboxes that I take on tour with me that I need to store but it means I am able to claim the cost of storage back in my tax return so I don't mind too much. Having power is not an issue as it would only be for storing as I am not too far from the storage units and would still fettle at home.
