Not sure if the topic has been covered before?, but i'm keen to try out this style of short(s?), and wondered if you guys had any good/bad recommendations you could pass on?.
I'm not looking to spend hundreds, as i'm just a leisure cyclist, but i'm hoping to commute to work a bit this summer, which is a 9/10 mile ride each way, so wanted to get something comfortable to wear.

Thanks for your help. Matt

I have a couple of sets of bib shorts -
Altura
Endura
3/4 length DHB
All work for me - although the sizing is different - Alturas and DHB are large and the Enduras are medium. Although I have lost 2 stone recemtly so that may explain it. If you shop about, they should not cost a fortune. The Enduras are £63 but I picked them up second hand but unused for £25.

I would suggest that you try and make sure you get the right size - that is the hard bit with on line buying.

Re:

Have a look at a German firm - Trikot express - I get my stuff from there & have been very pleased with the Nalini basic range.

They have a `king size` range & good sizing charts, post not expensive. You can pick up some good special offers.
Bibshorts are very comfy! Good luck!

Re:

For quality and comfort, I can't really fault Tenn bibs, but be careful on the sizing front as they seem a bit smaller than some brands - I usually take a M but the Tenn idea of Medium is a bit of a snug fit on me.

Whats your size in strides? I went through this a year ago and have arrived at some sizes

Re:

Thanks for the responses guys, I've been trawling round the online stores such as wiggle and evans to check out prices, but it's helpful to hear a few comments on brands, because they all claim to be the best thing since sliced bread in their write ups!. Matt

If you're not looking to spend a fortune on your first pair and you want good sizing, you could do worse than try CCUK based in Leeds I think and always offer bargainous process. Just Google CCUK cycling. I've got 2 pairs of bibs and they're really good, and I'm a big fella.

Will bear them in mind. Link to their online shop here for anyone interested:

Looks like they do custom gear for cycling clubs etc., which is usually a good sign that a cycle clothing supplier knows its stuff (I still have my Impsport kit from my first ever racing club, 14 years on - even now I use the bibshorts when on the training rollers)!
