BFE replacement...Stanton Slackline

Hmmm, liking the look of the Stanton. From experience I don't think you can beat the zee mech/NW ring combination you've got on there.

Hope the head and shoulder are mending. Did you do that with a helmet on - must have been a hell of a knock. I spent ten hours in A&E yesterday as the skin around one of the wires in my wrist has become infected. It feels horrible but I've got some strong antibiotics now...

Can't wait to get back on the bike.

The Zee mech is brilliant...it's got me back on Shimano after years on Sram (Sram clutch mechs are rubbish but I do Peter the shirt action). I ride for 5 hours yesterday with the clutch turned off and still no dropped chain.

I was wearing a lid when I crashed...that went strain in the bin when I got out of A&E. There was a huge scuff and crack that matched up with the one on my forehead. That's twice a helmet had saved my head.

Infection around the wires in the wrist doesn't sound like an awful lot of fun.

Cheers.

That's the Switchback which is a super slack mid wheeler. If I do sell the bouncy bike they're on the list if I can't/don't stretch to a Ti jobbie.
For info - I have a Ti one if you want any info / feedback on them.

Not quite sure how to take that....what were you imagining? Or daren't I ask....

All healed now...can still be a bit of a girl on the bike. I like the orange bits...the idea kind of stolen from you. What size is BFe 2.0? Is it as well as or instead of the other one?

 Don't worry, I think just like Radio DJs you get a mental image of how you think they look - it's not usually too far off! :D
Glad you are better.

No I've still got the frame and bike as is but loads of upgrades, long overdue thread bump coming soon once I fix a puncture and apply so finishing touches. This will tell me once n for all if I like it or not! Just need the time n guts to ride it.

How do you find it? Have you tried the steel one? What forks are you running on it? I may have someone interested in my Rune.

It's a tough call. Would I go really posh and buy the Ti frame knowing that I'll have it forever or just buy the Switchback and get in the silly wheel size band wagon. Hmmmm.

As only joking.

Looking forward to seeing the updates on the BFe.

Stay tuned I might even complete it soon! :D

Stevet1 - The Ti Slackline has become my obsessive dream bike. do you have a thread for it?
Though if I was spending that much I'd have to consider short travel play bikes too. I'd also have to consider bigger wheels too. thank goodness I'm poor!
Soz for the thread derailment Mindmap3 :)

I haven't ridden the steel one. I did consider buying the steel one and trying it before buying the Ti one but in the end after talking on the phone a lot with Dan I went for it. Prior to this I had an Evil sovereign, and a Chromag Aperture.
If you get on with the geometry of the steel one the biggest thing you will notice is obviously the weight difference with The Ti. It builds into a light but strong bike - Mine is 25lbs with no carbon bits. What I noticed straight after coming off the Sovereign is it was a lot easier to throw around, but also a lot less stable - the thing pings off rocks that the sovereign would have cracked it two :D . It is plenty stiff unlike previous Ti frames I've owned, but not harsh - although I am running it tubeless so not sure I could tell anyway.
I'm running U-turn coil sektors on it currently. Have thought about changing to Pikes but think I would miss the U-turn functionality as I do like to ride it everywhere - DH, xc and BMX tracks.
With regards to the 26/650b thing - I decided this frame was the best fit for my riding style on the market at the moment, no frame lasts forever so in 5 years time or more I'll look around again and if its a 650b frame that fits the bill then thats what I'll buy.

Theres not much (anything?) you can't do on a long travel hardtail that you can do on a short travel playbike (presume you mean full sus?). The hardtail will be 2lbs + lighter and probably stronger.
It was my dream frame for a while - took nearly a year of pondering to actually place my order but not regretted it yet, pain of shelling out £1200 has soon been forgotten.

It's the end of the line for the Slackline now...(it'll be in the classifieds in two secs). I picked up its replacement this afternoon from Dan who is a top chap.

I've gone for a cherry red Switchback which looks stunning in the flesh. Just waiting for the bits to turn up this week then I can get it built. Properly excited about it.
