With everything being so desctructive, why not use the frost kit? Desinged for the job and won't destroy the part.

oven pride, did some on a chain ring and other bits tonight. safer than caustic soda and works perfect. got it from wilko's...

Whats this stuff from Wilko's ??? Oven Pride !!! Ill give it a go. I dont mind..

Its for a set of black Cooks Cranks which aint so black no more, thus back to silver !! Shouldn't affect tolerences I would guess ??

wilko's = wilkinsons but you should be able to get it anywhere, it comes with a bag for putting your oven shelves in then you chuck in the liquid, give it a slosh around and sort of rub it through the bag and then wash off with warm soapy water. thats it... you'll be amazed.
