Obviously a track frame with a fork drilling for a brake is perfect, otherwise I'd say something with long horizontal dropouts and narrow (120 or 126mm) rear spacing.
Isn't a fixie different though.Brightly coloured and becoming less fashionable each week now.A girl once said ooh you rode all that way on a fixie.I just smiled.

You cannot use a chain tensioner with a fixie as the chain is used both for accelerating and braking. A tensioner works on the slack side of the chain run; with a fixie there is no slack side.
