Best games console....XBox 360

Totally entirely and completely disagree.

PS3 is better. I have had 3 xbox 360 die on me.

Pieces of crap.

The kinect thing I heard is good though.

I have had one 360 which did die the best part of three years after I got it. It was repaired/replaced FOC. Haven'tgot a Kinect as it doesn't appeal. I really only play shooting games, (its the nutter inside). The Xbox is best (I have been told by someone with serious research time dedicated to the question) at online stuff.

My kids really like the Wii.

Got 360 and love it no issues in with it 8)

Have to say though when all the kids are around they play the wii

Anyone playing battlefield 1943 online? :D

ps3 in a heartbeat.....278 hours and counting ...online time bad company 2....best sniper shot..over 1.8 miles...yehass

I have young kids and it's the Wii.

To be honest, it depends what the family would like to play. Wii games targeted at the family and it's platform style games are easy to pick up and good fun, even the grand parent enjoyed them.

I think a lot of these replies seem to have missed this part of the question
and family fun games not shoot em ups etc

It's also cheap at the moment new, balance board makes some games more enjoyable but not always needed (Raving Rabbids) and of course Wii Fit Plus always entertains my one's and myself and the wife even use it.

I'm sure the 360 with the Kinect feature and the games coming out for it will be great fun especially for the older family/kids. I've not had a chance to play though.

But more expensive.

ME as a gamer since late 80's

I have a PS3 and think it's ace. I know you only want it for games but the PS3 does so much more. At the moment I mostly use mine to stream from my laptop wireless films + music to my surround sound thingy. Also has all the various iplayers installed as well as Love Film if that's your bag. Oh, and it plays Blueray and upscales normal DVD's.

Technically Blu-ray player aside the Xbox is a better console than the PS3 but they have a poor reliability record compared to the others (definitely one for an extended warranty)

For me, our family fun console is still the Wii but we don't have Kinect, we do have one at work and it is pretty good but you can get a wii for almost the same price now, and that includes the console.

Yes there is a new wii on the way but it will be a while before it hits our shore - estimate: 20th July 2012 onwards
