I’ve got a couple of early clockwork sun the resto line and I can’t remember how we decode the serial to narrow the build days any help would be ace

First is this one my original bike I had from new when I was in early teens circa 89/90

And second is a frame I’ve just picked up I assume a little young as has cable guide above bottom bracket

Cheers for any thought you guys may have

This is the notes I've made for my Oranges. Info is based on what I've read here & other forums & observations from catalogues etc rather than any official source so get the salt out.

Most of my frame numbers 'fit' with dated publications. The only anomaly is my Prestige. Seems to be earlier than frame number would suggest when compared to the features of the version in the 1993 catalogue. I'll have to post pics & get advice from the experts. Graphics, bottom bracket front mech cable guide, presence of chain stay bridge say earlier than '93 to me.

I don't know when Orange started getting frames made abroad. If the format on your's is the same as my frame numbers suggest maybe yours are Sept 1988 builds for 1989 season but you'd expect A809? Maybe different format in very early days. Didn't they buy in Muddy Fox or some such & rebadge - maybe the number format on those is another manufacturers?

I've updated the list I posted above. I picked up the C-16R this morning. From looking at the catalogies & other examples here i pegged it as a 1995 model. Frame number seems to bear that out - A501xxxxxx
