A newish bike to me but probably from around 2015-27. Currently getting a lot of use by my soon to be 13 year old.
I noticed a bit of play in the rear, I can see a bearing moving, so looking to test it all down and rebuild with fresh bearings.
I hope it's all present and correct, but I have some small doubts. Bought as a full bike with a recent bearing refresh I was told, but a few things haven't been quite right with it, such as wrong rear axle (too long for non boost frame and wheels) and a few other small things I've corrected.
Anyone replaced the bearings or experienced this play and resolved it? It's never looked quite right imo, bearings don't seem equally fitted and I think the play is from one moving in and out of its location rather than play in a worn bearing as I can see it moving if I push the rear triangle left and right. Does this sound like an I'll fitting bearing, it all not bolted down right or something less appealing?
While it's apart I may take the opportunity to respray or before rebuilding. Any tips on this, not done a carbon frame before, but many steel and alloy frames bits.
Thanks.
