we were talking about this at work and thought briefly about setting up "www.weatherguess.com" with some spoof weather reports on it that played randomly.

i think my local radio station already do that. their reports are not based on fact it seems :D

...and your guesses will probably be a lot closer than you imagine! Another thing i've noticed is that the BBC weather website quite often contradicts the BBC weather on TV

Hey, it's Britain in winter, expect chaos, anything less is a positive

But regards the weather fortune tellers, I suppose they have to justify their requirement somehow, be seen to be doing something useful, but in reality they are nothing more than fortune tellers.

But that always got me, why it is fortune tellers are regarded as a bit of fun and at worst hocus pocus and charlatans, when the weather forecasters do exactly the same, yet they are respected. Yeah sure they have pieces of junk orbiting the earth reading stuff and other means to help them, but it is a yes/no situation, that which has yet to happen cannot be defined as it is in the future.

I look at it this way, winter= cold= possibility of ice, be prepared for it and get on with life as normal.

Amazing !!!

We have gone from (again) not just snow but HEAVY snow tonight and tomorrow to now ........... NOTHING !!!

Thats same for Met office site too

.

I find the BBC to be really optimistic about the weather until the very last minute :?
Metcheck is much more reliable, if slightly pesimistic
