P Paul_Buckley Retro Newbie Jun 4, 2012 #1 Does anyone remember a barrel-less front hub that just had alloy flanges supported on the bearing outer races. Maybe early 1990's or even before. Looked sweet but i guess it didn't actually work.

FMJ BoTM Winner Gold Trader Feedback View Jun 4, 2012 #2 I seem to remember something along the lines. There was a hub with a clear poly-carbonate shell bonded to the flanges (who's name escapes me) as well. *edit* the "hard drive" is a bit slow on Mondays. Hershey.

Mr.Toad Senior Retro Guru Jun 4, 2012 #3 I think you are referring to the "Kynetyk Psykolz Unhub". The design uses a solid axle with bearings and spoke flanges pressed on either end. Interesting design and it worked, apparently. I can scan the MT Action review if you like. It's from Aug 1995.

FluffyChicken Archivist Retrobike Rider Feedback View Jun 4, 2012 #6 There must be independent twisting and rotation between the flanges causing all hell on the spokes and twisty wheels. if you cannot see the pics above then try a green version here http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=81332 or try the flip of that http://www.bmeres.com/axlelesshub.htm
