My first adult bike from 40+ years ago, a 59cm Centurion touring bike, was 38mm ctc at the hoods and drops.
These bars are 34cm at the hoods, 40cm at the drops. Works for me, tho the longest ride has been ~30mi.

I hate narrow bars and typically mount something modern in the 46cm range on my riders. Nitto noodles typically.

When i bend forward at the waist, let my arms hang with a slight bend at the elbows, i should be on narrower bars (for a 'comfort' position). : )
