Ballistic suspension forks ?

ballistic forks

I had a set of ballistic forks on my old carrera Ultima. looked the biz.

however they didn't work very well. They seized solid - and I hadn't noticed :)

Seemed the stantions just rustede themselves to the fork legs.

IIRC they also did a really light version with a welded titanium crown and steerer.

I think Ballistic were a company with some pretty advanced manufacturing facilities, but their products often suffered from shite design.

I think this appears to be Ballistic International. Co. Ltd, they state they were set up to manufacture high end front suspension forks for mountain bikes in 1993 ;

Also from elsewhere, some gen on a few of their forks ;

The latter link shows what I believe has been reffered to here, and the one on fleabay that caused me to create this topic.

Hasten to say I did not bid, silly really, but I was having an attack of the do I really need this thing ?, something I have developed to prevent me doing retail therapy I can ill afford.

But who won them then, a Retrobike member ?

Never saw these (wouldn't have paid THAT MUCH for a set of carbon hehe).

They look like a slightly newer model than mine.

I have EX800A with canti hanger. Mine were near mint.

I just won a set of these on the 'Bay.... :)

Arrived today, they seem decent enough, given the age. In great nick, original box, warranty card etcetera...

I'll bung up some pics on this thread when I get them home :)

Excellent, please can you show us the innards as i've still not got mine to work properly (think there might be bit missing).

I've got a set of the carbon legged ones lurking in the shed somewhere, will have a rummage......................................................
...Right, they're marked as Pro 800A. They were on my wife's hardtail bike for a long time, got them cheap 2nd hand a long time ago.
Took them off when I built her a full-suspension bike. They didn't appear to have much travel towards the end of their life on wife's bike.
Partially dismantled them at the time to check why but I think it was just that the elastomers were dead, but looked OK, and the fork didn't have a lot of travel to start with.

Will have a further rummage to see if I can find all the bits.
