Baldini's Bike

Old Ned

Old School Grand Master
About 4 years ago my friend Ray who is an Audax rider (Audax organise extremely long 'tourist' rides like the Paris-Brest-Paris etc.) rode an event from Paris to Athens over 10 days (hundreds of riders with police escorts etc.!) and one of the meal stops was at a large house in northern Italy. While Ray was chewing his pasta a man came out of the house and it turned out to be the legend that is Ercole Baldini (1950's World Champion, track record holder etc, etc.). He owned the house and had a small museum with some of his bikes in it and Ray managed to get this shot of one of the bikes and also one of the man himself. Hope they are of interest.

By the way, the little guy at the left of the group picture was riding the event at 85 years of age!

That is one cool looking bike. There's a couple of old looking racer/riders there. Nice to see. You get the impression that racers' reunions are pretty sparce affairs!

Would like a go on the bike. It even looks about my size.
