IKWYM. I was scouring the bay for some bargains, but they just weren't turning up

I'm on the hunt for parts for his big sister now, she has out grown her current bike and I've promised her a nice homebuilt special for Christmas.

i have a spokely dokely on my DH bike (need to get more though)
looking to get a handlebar mounted aeroplane at some point - for my dh bike

Don't want to start a heated debate but I was wondering whether you guys insist on little 'uns wearing helmets? Bought a hotwalk for my 2 year old and I'm not sure whether he needs a helmet or not. I'm thinking not to be honest...

I prefer them to. Helmets are possibly of arguable effectiveness against the front of a Range Rover, but definitely useful for low-speed spills and falling off.

My kids thought they were cool and wanted to wear them. No doubt that will change when they are 11.

I have a couple of tidy helmets my kids have grown out of, I'm pleased to send one on for postage.

She got a toys r us £7.99 job (and disney princess knee and elbow pads) as I only consider it to be useful for a self inflicted / low speed / low height fall to stop the bumps and grazes etc - She's not exactly going quickly or in an area with trafic etc :D

She doesnt like it on for long and I am not that bothered whilst we are still holding her and (hopefully ) catching her when it goes wrong.

Once she can ballance herself I hope she will be happy enough to wear the helmet all the time ...

Got to keep mum happy to ...

I'm ashamed to say, I have only this year bought my first crash helmet for myself. Having bought a few over the years for my daughter as shes grown I thought it best to set an example now we also have our son.

My daughter is happy to wear hers whenever out on the bike, but I'm sure as she gets older (shes just coming up to 9 now) it will be more of a battle. Little 'un (just turned 2) is actually more difficult, he doesn't even like wearing a hat in the sun. So a helemt with lions and giraffe's on is now on its way (his favorite)

Thats a very generous offer that I might take you up on. Not sure what size I need though, I will have to get him measured.
Hopefully he'll take to it - he has no problem wearing a hat although I *have* to wear one as well so I suspect I will be walking around the garden wearing my helmet which no doubt will convince the neighbours that I have finally lost it..
