Back in time.. 1995 GT Avalanche

Back in the very early nineties, I was introduced into mountainbiking by my cousins that live in the southern (most 'hilly') part of the Netherlands, Limburg.

After riding a Raleigh Amazon for a while (50 kgs, full Shimano 100GS!), I got some financial support from my late grandfather to acquire my next, 'real' mountainbike in 1994: a GT Avalanche AL, full Shimano Deore LX; the lovely black group.
This is how I got it fresh from the shop:

A 16" frame, because back in the day I thought small frames looked cool
After spending most of my allowance at my LBS for a while, this is what my ride looked like when it got nicked :evil: :

Earlier this week, I spotted an Avalanche on Marktplaats, relatively close by, so I went to check it out. Although it is a 1995, I fell in love, thanks to nostalgia, and the sticker of the very LBS I bought mine from in 1994 .
Good thing: it is a 20", so a deal was made.

You going to keep it as is? Get it back to factory fresh or make a replica of what you had before yours was stolen?

Don't know what the original thought behind those pedals was: they've been removed in the meantime. And are up for grabs ! Same holds for that saddle, BTW..

The plan is to get it back into riding condition with some parts I still have lying around.
Not necessarily factory spec, or as close to what it looked like a good 25 years ago: just wanna ride it!

I didnt even notice the saddle, I was blind-sided by the pedals.

Other than that it looks like it is in great condition. Indeed get out there and ride it.

Exchanged the LX m563 cranks with some XT and the front LX mech with an XT

And the 8sp XT rear mech with a 9sp XTR m952

Now it's time to fit the Magura's (HS33 Quicksilver).
Apparently, the Mag21's only needed some air, but I don't know what they will be like after the first ride..

Let's see if I can take this 'new' ride out for a spin this weekend ! I wonder if the ride feels the same as it did a good 25 years ago..
I noted that the Oury grip is obstructung the rh shifter, so I think I need to cut a small bit off, to enable smooth shifting.
